The sun is out, the day is hot, but the hedgehog is still cool. That’s what Sonic reckons, anyway, and for those humes – and the occasional hard-working droid – it’s high time for a refreshing new issue of STC.
Good news then: as well as the conclusion of the latest Sonic adventure, In the Heat of the Night, Amy also springs into action with the first in a new two part story: Impressions! Don’t forget that you can still browse back issues at your leisure, and check out Boomer reaction in Speedlines. Still, it’s often been said that the only problem with STC is that it just doesn’t come often enough. I’ve suggested going weekly to the humes but they threatened to put me in a greenhouse until my circuits melted.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a free gift, so how about one for next issue? I thought you lot would approve! I’ll see you in the Hallowe’en issue where there are plenty of spooky treats and action-packed adventures lined up!
In the meantime, enjoy this latest issue and stay cool!
Sonic’s battle with the terrifying Chaos creature was going badly until Ebony showed up with her friend, Super Sonic. Super had split from Sonic and had become a pacifist, never daring to use the terrible power that the chaos energy bestowed upon him.
That all changed when he absorbed Chaos’ energy and reverted to a terrifying monster. Luckily, Ebony was able to merge Sonic and Super again – back to the way it was in the beginning. With Chaos destroyed, Sonic, Porker and Ebony went searching for the Floating Island, which had sunk beneath the sea.
With the Floating Island’s shields failing and water leaking into the island, Porker and Ebony sent a small bubble of Chaos Energy; a gift from the Underwater Outpost they had befriended. But now, the energy has brought back two people – the benevolent Tikal, and the terrible demon Super Sonic…

Unfortunately, we can’t re-print them all, but here’s some of our favourites!
Dear STC,
Ah, good ol’ StC. My favourite comic when I was a young lad, one I read avidly for years up until the quality dropped. Then I came back to the fold for the rash of apocalyptic epics that marked Andy Diggle’s editorship. I was hyped about my childhood buddy reaching new heights… and then STC went full reprint.
And now it’s back. Aw yeah. You guys rule.
This whole thing oozes with the style, quality and the atmosphere of the old StC. And to my delight, you’re not content to sit around and just ape the old stories- we’ve got new ideas in action, like the inhabitants of the former Drakon outpost, Tikal hitching a ride through Sonic, the Amy/Tekno relationship turned around… It’s all good. And now it looks like everything’s gonna hit the fan Super Sonic-wise, and this gives me a fanboy tingle deep down…
I second the cry for more Kid Chameleon, because I’ve been waiting to see him fight The Voice since 1995. Seeing the return of the Flock and Tails’ Zonerunner outfit wouldn’t go amiss either, or the return of Simmonds-Hurn’s lovely pencil colouring.
And also- big thumbs-up for including Rich C’s “fan” letter. It’s always fun to see comics cheerfully posting the hate mail they get.
All the best (and bring back Kid Chameleon!)
Charles Ellis
Unfortunately, Charles, the Kid has hung up his shades – for the time being, at least.
Hey Megadroid!
Great to see you back, STC just wasn’t the same with just those Humes who Think They’re In Charge! I was a fan of Sonic right from the start, but only started reading STC from #9 onwards and my local newsie stopped selling it after the 120th issue I think….so I’ve missed out on some great stuff! Me and my little sis sent loadsa stuff to the Graphic Zone and each of us got a pic printed! Don’t think I ever said thanks, so here’s my opportunity!
STC online is great, I’m amazed at the writers and artists talent…how an Mobius did they do that?! I disagree with Rich C in the latest issue completely! The same STC style is evident, right down to including Control Zone and Speedlines!
Story wise the characters have remained true to the old gang we know and love! I was especially pleased to see an Amy story as she was my fave character! Will she be appearing in later issues too? I wasn’t too keen on her new look and classic “damsel in distress” attitude in the more recent games, she’s a tomboy who can take care of herself!
Anyway, its great to see something that played such a big part in my childhood return in such great style! What can I say? Well done guys, you rule!
Take care and good luck!
love Claire Ryan
